Grief & Loss Therapy
Grief therapy at Kazi Counseling
Grief therapy can provide a place where you don't have to make your loss easier for someone else to hear.
We can talk about the sadness.
But we can also talk about anger, resentment, guilt, relief, unfinished conversations, complicated relationships, identity changes, and all the things people sometimes feel like they're not supposed to say when they're grieving.
There isn't a timetable you have to follow.
There isn't a correct way you're supposed to feel.
And healing doesn't require leaving the person or experience you lost behind.
-
Sometimes grief is overwhelming sadness.
Sometimes it's anger. Numbness. Relief. Guilt. Anxiety. Irritability. Exhaustion.
And sometimes you're functioning perfectly well on the outside while carrying a loss that still feels enormous on the inside.
There isn't one correct way to grieve, and there isn't a point when you should automatically be "over it."
Kazi Counseling provides online grief counseling for adults throughout California who are navigating loss and trying to understand how life continues when something, or someone, important is no longer there.

Grief can become especially complicated when your relationship with the person who died was complicated too.
Maybe there were things you never resolved.
Maybe you loved them and were angry with them.
Maybe the relationship was distant, painful, or inconsistent.
Maybe you're grieving what you had and what you never got to have.
Death doesn't automatically resolve the relationship we carried with someone.
Sometimes it leaves us holding feelings that no longer have anywhere obvious to go.
-
We can grieve many kinds of losses.
A divorce.
The end of a relationship.
A friendship.
A pregnancy.
A major life transition.
The loss of a future you thought you were going to have.
Changes in family relationships.
A version of yourself or your life that no longer exists.
Some losses are recognized and supported by the people around us. Others can leave us wondering whether we're even "allowed" to grieve.
You are.

How do I know if I need grief counseling?
You don't have to wait until grief becomes unbearable to seek support. Some people begin therapy shortly after a loss, while others find that grief becomes more difficult months or even years later.
Is grief counseling only for someone who has died?
No. Therapy can also help with grief connected to relationships, divorce, major transitions, pregnancy loss, changes within families, and other significant losses.
What if I'm grieving someone I had a difficult relationship with?
Grief after a complicated relationship can include sadness alongside anger, guilt, relief, resentment, regret, or unresolved feelings. Those experiences are valid parts of grief and can be explored openly in therapy.
How long is grief supposed to last?
There isn't a universal timeline. Grief often changes over time rather than simply ending. Significant dates, life transitions, memories, or new experiences can bring aspects of grief back even years after a loss.
Do you provide grief counseling online?
Yes. Kazi Counseling provides online individual grief therapy for adults throughout California.
You don't have to make your grief smaller.
If you're carrying a loss that continues to affect you, there can be value in having a place where you don't have to explain why it still matters.
